Origami is predicted to be the most popular craft of 2017 and is recognised for its almost meditative qualities. Let your day’s tension melt away as you learn a wide range of origami pieces in the beautiful green surroundings of Highgate.
This workshop will start with a demonstration of the basic origami folds and techniques that will be used in all the origami that you make. You will then select your favourite paper using only premium types, including some Japanese washi origami papers.
Everyone will be amazed at how many ways there are to transform just one individual piece of paper through folding and rarely using scissors! We’ll be making beautiful flowers including the traditional Japanese Kusudama flower, which originates from ancient Japanese culture, made from 5 individual petals and carefully constructed together. Other pieces will include butterflies, hearts, Japanese fans and smaller versions of these that can be assembled onto celebration, birthday and greeting cards or used for special occasions.
After mastering all of the above we’ll move on to Kawasaki roses, a very intricate and realistic Japanese rose. This will incorporate all of the skills that you will have learnt throughout the evening and Alice will be at hand for presentation tips and assistance.
Japanese snacks and tea will be present throughout!
